Yeah, I'm starting to like the idea of doing a turbo build... Hmmm.

If its a 5 speed then you can get a bellhousing from a 2.3 mustang and use the tranny as well. If its an automatic, ehh, throw it in the trash. The get a explorer 8.8 rear end (find one with disc brakes) and you'll have a quick little truck for not much money.

It's fun to build fast cars/trucks with junkyard parts.

Automatic turd but it's all good. Car body is shot but the interior is in good shape including the seats which would go in a ranger rather nicely. I can find a T-5 transmission pretty easily anyway.

Contemplating options as far as upgrading the engine I'd rather massage it anway. Thinking of doing an efficiency build, porting the heads myself and getting custom cams and an upgraded turbo for the thing. Try to do what I can to improve engine efficiency and have something that'll get pretty good gas mileage.

Pff, I agree that the 7.5 rear would probably meet its demise fairly quick, but the 8.8 out of the explorers are an easy/cheap upgrade and will handle 400hp.

You can run a 12 second pass on a stock suspension if you know how to drive.

I have to agree^^. You can still have fun trying though.

^Thas a big ditto on Joes...
For even a good 12 sec run you're gonna need a Ford 9", suspension, and some meats

Good luck hitting 11's with stock rear suspension. You might need to look into a nice 4link and possibly tubbing the rear to get any kind of traction. If not, then I am afraid that you will get 11seconds of wheelspin.

After doing some research I found people running 30 psi of boast and making 400+ rwhp with semi mild engines, and driveable tunes.

Thats good for what, 11 sec passes with a good tire?

And I still intend to v8 the explorer.
