i live right near the lake. i can walk out about 100-200 feet when it stays really cold for a while.

Erie freezes over almost completely every winter, but that's because it runs parallel to northeastern winds and it's as shallow as the kiddy end of a pool.

Does lake huron actually freeze over?
yea, for the most part. Used to have a cottage on huron.

Does lake huron actually freeze over? I know lake michigan may have frozen completely over once, but I think its usually only covered like 50%.

hmmm still pretty...

Looks like my sister was mis-informed. She's in Tennessee and got this also second hand by e-mail from a friend/client. I haven't been in Michigan in years, but still consider it home and know the winters can get bitterly cold. Thanks for setting the record straight ;)

These look pretty sweet but unfortunately I don't believe this happened here in MI. For one it was never covered on the local news and something like this would have made it for sure and also snopes lets ya know what causes them and also has the origin of these pics.

Well I suppose that if we really needed a reminder of how cold this winter got... at least you did it with some cool lookink pics :p :D
