Im not saying you cant port it, but Im saying the results are not near as good with other comparable subs (with different T/S Specs).
Thats why your graph was looking bad. With subs in the 50 EBP or so the magnitude grows rapidly. This sub its drawn out more, with it peaking in the 50 area. So to put this in easier to grasp terms, in your car its going to peak closer to 57 Hz. Also note that you will be missing out on prettymuch anything below 35 Hz, thats your F3 cutoff point.
I would input it at 3 cubes and tuning of 36 Hz if your going sealed. F3 is 35 Hz.
Or toss it into the recommended 1.75 sealed and have fun.
Everything I've read says to use this driver in a sealed enclosure, including BCAE's calculator, so you're right on there. I was just trying to see where I could get the greatest output. I've never experimented with ported enclosures so this is entirely new territory for me :)
I will probably build a 2.5 or 3.0 sealed for a daily driver and a larger vented box to play around with just for the heck of it. I don't know why I decided to go with a 15...I should have done my research a little better lol. The Mazda 3 has the smallest trunk I've ever had to work with. :banghead

Get me some spec or I will see if I can find some and whip up a size/port combo for ya.
You will have to figure the box end size out though. I will get you height and depth.
lol I wondered if that roll off was a problem. I wouldn't be surprised if I did something wrong. I know I forgot to enter Re in the parameters
Here are the specs I have:
Fs: 27 Qts: .835 Qes:.958 Qms: 6.5 Vas: 163 liters
Re: 3.3 Xmax: 25 Sens 87.35 Rms 700 Displacement .231

Forgot, for end size I was shooting for 23 in long. FYI I have 18 inches max for height. Thanks Ryan!

Okay enough gay crap :)
I ran some different calculations in Winisd with different sealed and vented enclosures ranging from 2.5 to 4.0
I'd like to run 4.0 ft3 but I think that will take up too much of my trunk so I'll probably have to do 3.0 or 3.5 either sealed or vented. What do you guys think which looks best given my limitations??...

Going to read the PM

Bwcad1 wrote:Ok if your total height is 16.5 your port will be 15 inchs tall make it 3.5 inches wide problem with that is it makes your port 33.5in long. and 2.5 for a 15 is really really small imo.

i would make your box 4CF before displacement with a 15 x 3 inch port and a length of 15in should tune you between 37-40
Sending you a PM
