lcr meters are cool

with the subsonic filter set correctly i should be fine

by colemanyoungerinalaska » Tue Feb 12, 2008 4:07 pm

box is tuned to 28 hz
so basically anything above 28 hz and im fine
sealed would probably be safer h

true, you are a scholar bill.......and a sexy gentleman

lol no ones dumb dude 99per of people dont understand impedance rise basicly each frequency can change the load your amp see's your amp is never seeing one load its constantly changing from your nominal up usually. unless you go below tuning freq which can actually cause impedance decrease which is ext harmful to amps. that make any sense?

by Scarrell » Tue Feb 12, 2008 1:18 pm

well **** i dont know lol.. i just figured that the amp itself would still see that ohm load, but on the way to the sub or whatever it would rise ofcourse.. im dumb, excuse me.. my A.D.D. is kicking in :help:

by Bwcad1 » Tue Feb 12, 2008 1:08 pm

what do you mean internal? your load constantly changes.

by Scarrell » Tue Feb 12, 2008 12:54 pm

now even with impedance rise, wouldnt the amp still see that .7ohm load internally? i mean ive heard you can also use longer speaker wire..etc.. to get a little ohm rise, but id still think the amp would still work as hard..

the only time ac/dc would matter is when you get high current enough that the skin effect would create differences in impedance but thats about it.

well i can select ac/dc for measuring voltage but not resistance which is what your ohm load would be measured at. your resistance is always measured in ohms not voltage so therefore bill is correct....when you introdu e ac voltage from the amp the speaker moves but the voltage reading and the resistance only affect each other in the fact that the ac voltage causes the speaker to move which will cause the impedence to change.
