How much moolah to spend on the speakers? Look into the SEAS Lotus Reference components and the Polk SR components if you're shopping in the ZR price range, from a pure performance standpoint those are the two sets I feel stand out the most in that area, or nearly any budget for that matter. If you're looking in the price range of what you can get Kappa Perfects for on the internet, look into the Pioneer Premier C720PRS components, those things are pretty much unbeatable in that price range.

The Infinity's are not going to come anywhere near the JL's in overall build quality, overall sound quality or even warranty.

The JL's midbass on those is quite good, and their tweeter, although metal, it very nice sounding..not harsh at all. They have tremendous powerhandling and the build quality of their crossovers is nearly that of Focal, which I am partial to.

When I had planned on building my last car, it came down to the JL's and the Focal KX series, and I went with Focal...and let me tell you, the choice was more difficult than you would think it would be.

read the FAQ section on rear fill speakers.
that's why I wrote the article.

I agree with Joey and Jeremy. Also Airforceyooper added in something as well. SQ and rear speakers don't mix. Unless, ask Joey stated, you plan on having a 5.1 system in your car. Then rears are perfectly acceptable and actually, required. But since you are going to be in a relatively small car, here is my suggestion...I too thought I would like having rear speakers, but I later found out that when I am at home and listening to my home system, it has two speakers, one subwoofer and that is it. All up front. So I tend to do the same thing with my car. Put all my stage up front, and put the sub bass as close to the front as possible.

But, as you say, it wasn't the original question, so for that, I would go with the 450/4 for sure. Mainly cause you will have the headroom to play with, you won't be as limited as the 300/4, and you are going to get more tunability with it as well.

So think on the rear speaker thing, if you decide to go that route, do what the rest of these guys are suggesting, add a midbass, but nothing with a tweeter, it will ruin your soundstage.

If you do decide to go with just front stage, spend a bit more money and get yourself a nice sounding 2-way component set ( like the JL Zr series) since you are all about JL and then add the midbass later if you want it. Or need it for that matter. just my .03 cents

If it's an automatic then we just need to take away the left leg :p lol

Ok if your truely serious about SQ then don't use the doors. Put the mids in the kicks, and the tweets in the a pillars.

If your stuck on the door, then angle the mid under the panel.

Ok and if you REALLY REALLY REALLY want to run rear speakers, stay away from coax. Use a dedicated midbass, and run it bandpassed and mono.

Theres also a trick you can do with your rcas and an amp with balanced line inputs, but I'm not going to get into that unless you want to go that route.

you can mount your tweeters in a better position, just be sure to measure out that the tweeter is roughly the same distance away from your ears as your mid-range

lol

Thanks for the input gentlemen. And yes, my leg literally rests about an 1inch above the drivers side door speaker. There is a noticeable difference in sound when I pull my leg away.
