You have to have the government trying to keep up with the economy. If the government said, "screw it, just let it do it's own thing," English will no longer be the primary language of our country. We'd loose our country to china or some shit and then I'd have to move to Canada. So, even if they screw it up from time to time, and maybe don't make the best decisions, it's better then them doing nothing at all.

Any additional money I get will likely go to bills, or get invested. By the way, I consider any money spent on audio equipment, my car or Jeep, tools, etc., an investment. :)

Perfect example of this struggle is the U.S automotive market and its international competitors. Honestly many people will be using this money for paying off debt. I think the government realizes this and see's its potential effect in the short run economy. Most people will pay off debt to once again acquire it. However, that will not be part of the marketing campaign for the government, they wil promote spending it frivolously. Some will, others won't. I plan on spending mine on next winters boat project.

Ive heard something about $500 or $800 a person. Now is this a check we would get or is it a tax break when we do our taxes this year?

If its a check are they going to mail one to the local bums in Toledo?

Do they really think giving a crackhead $800 will jump start the economy?

If I get a check fror $500 or $800 I will be putting it on my current past due bills and keep myself afloat for a little bit longer.

If they want to jump start the economy they could start by lowering Federal Tax rates on my income and by getting rid of the Gas Tax completely. Lastly tapping into gas reserves to drop the price of Gas.

Lets face it and not lie. How many of us have changed our spending habits because we have to pay more for gas?

It all started with NAFTA and politicians who are more worried about being home for the Holidays than doing their elected jobs (How NAFTA got passed). That led to jobs going to mexico and so forth.

The majority of us struggling would probably be better off in another less developed country. There we are worth a mint bringing our Knowledge to the table.

Hate to say it, but I strongly disagree with that statement... You do realize this is the first time that the Canadian dollar is stronger than the american. The fix they're planning will only be temporary, I agree, but what really needs to be done is have the government come in and put higher import tariffs on companies that wish to outsource jobs, thus making them rethink the costs of doing business... Every market is down due to big business moving else where to try to save a buck, but I don't think they're looking at the big picture... Sure they're saving money on production costs, but if this recession continues, then there is no one that is going to buy the products in abundance like in the past, thus the corporations aren't saving anything.

yea i know, I know where your coming from. But there are also incentives for companys and such... I mean I'm not going to believe before i see it type deal. But everytime the gov. tries to fix the economy and/or make it better instead of letting it fix itself... In the long run it's worse off. It might fix it for a short while but what about in the next 2 years. We will be right back where we started or worse off. The economy has a way of fixing its self... It

They get it right back again anyway. they send that money out to the people. Us little guys run out and spend it ... taxes go back to the government. The taxes you paid for the product, and the taxes the business owner has to pay for the income on the product. Then the business owner who not only got his own tax refund, also gets the dollars from the people who spent it. He in turn expands his business and/or hires new employees. Now you've got a jump in unemployment, and newly employed people who will take that money and spend it. and, by the business expanding, the owner of the business will also be paying more taxes. And so on, and so on. So, they will get the money back, and it does boost the economy in the mean time. The only way they wouldn't get it back is if people cashed their checks and tucked the money away into a shoebox. Even saving or investing it, they government has their hands in those pots too. While your money sits in an account earning you .5%, it's being invest at 5 or 6 percent. And who do you think gets that money? lol. So you see, they're going to get it all back, and the economy gets a little boost besides.

Kinda funny, If the government wouldn't put their filthy hands into the economy in the first place, It would level it's self out. But yea Free money is always helpful so I always would take that...
