I wondered what the shack used for their stuff. Most of the 'shacks around here quit selling the car audio gear, except cables and small stuff like that.

Sherwood has never been to solid for car audio... Not bad for cheap home audio (not great, but you get what you pay for... right? :) )
But hey for the price you paid, it can't be beat... free is always the right price for me :D and heck if it doesn't work, then at least you've got a decent looking door stop :p LOL

Hey dude don't worry about it. It's cool. It was given to me and I just don't know anything about them. I didn't even think they were still in operation ( as a company). I probably use it as a heavy duty paperweight. Was Sherwood ever any good??

Thanks

Tim

Yeah tim sorry if we sound like were making fun of your amp, its just that sherwood has a pretty high failure rate.

by Tim » Tue Jan 01, 2008 2:26 pm

Thanks for the interest guys.
I figure this amp is probably 15-20 years old. It has the old connectors(molex I think), for the connections. It has one plug for the power connections and one plug for the speaker connections, with the appropiate number of wires coming from each.

It has two 30 amp fuses. Just the regular blade style fuses.

As I said before it is in pretty good shape, cosmetically. I opened it up the other day and all the connections are good, the board looks good, there are a couple questionable spots though. There are a couple caps on the board and it looks like they may have swelled some because the paper on them has come loose, and it looks like some kind of black goo has ran down and stuck to the board. It does have a burnt smell but not the "money" burnt smell.

Thanks again

Tim

Try this link: http://www.sherwoodcaraudio.com/a-x-1000.htm

has the specs for a Sherwood SCX 1000.

OR you might be able to call the people at one of these retail locations:

Whatever the fuse ratings are on the amp may give you an idea of it's maximum power. That is, if it doesn't say so already.
