I know it doesn't make a ton of sense, but the biggest reason the larger motor gets better mpg is that it doesn't have to work as hard to move all that weight... The 5.7 has a buttload of torque (400lbs. per ft.) compared to the 313 of the 4.7... VERY NICE! :happy055:
