Can you blow your speakers by playing them too loud if they are still cold?

LOL man I'm glad my car stays in my heated garage. My drive to work is only 15 min long, and theirs no way I could drive all the way to work without a little bump.

When I still lived i OK I gave my car about 10 min to warm up before I drove it. And the stereo was cranked once I got in. So 10 min should be fine, as long as the radio is on to warm the stereo parts up too.

i think this also goes to the type of car. its gonna be pretty cold in a trunk for a while longer and low volume will at least start to loosen things up

Ah the great debate...

Back in the day I seen a guy trash a trio of 12" W6's doing this.

If its freezing or below out dont crank your system, keep it low. I would say keep it low for about 15-20 minutes before turning it about 50% volume.

i live in alaska and i know from experience to let my car warm up b4 blasting music ive had a few subs tear apart when it was too cold.

I can personally say from one instance in the past with one of my customers... You can give it to much to soon in the cold or the surrounds can crack and even tear... turn your system up slowly in extreme cold situations (say below 20 degrees) while your car warms up and you'll be fine ;)

well really its not blowing them... if the surrounds absorbed any kind of moisture before hand and then froze up... well that would be a big ole problem because you would more than likely see some cracking going on... really any kind of plastic or rubber can be a problem...

Best solution is if it is cold out wait till you have the heater on and then turn the volume up slowly... Heat is more of an enemy of subs really than the cold... But im sure someone here will have another opinion and more info as well.
