They may be gearing up for a new lineup for 2008 ... unsure.

Yes but the majority of the stores don't have them in stock anymore. I assume that MXE has been discontinued.

They are still MXE models, they just drop the MXE on their site... If you type in a search for "Panasonic mxe" and go to one of the online comparing stores like shop.com you'll see which ones are still tagged Mxe ;)
